It is no wonder that Tony is called “The Father of Custom Crush”.

Peju has six vineyard estates located throughout Napa Valley. Their family Estate surrounds the production facility in Rutherford is where it all began.

Far Niente

The Most Beautiful Views in Napa Valley

1350 Acacia Dr. Oakville, CA 94562 – view on map – 707-944-2861

Specializing in Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon

Far Niente was founded in Oakville, California in 1885 by John Benson, a forty-niner of the California gold rush and uncle of the famous American impressionist painter, Winslow Homer. Benson hired architect Hamden McIntyre, and together they worked to create an exquisite oasis in western Oakville.

Far Niente prospered until the onset of Prohibition in 1919. The gates closed, but the magic never truly disappeared from the property. Sixty years later, Gil Nickel bought and restored the winery and neighboring vineyard. This three-year-long labor of love put the label back on the map — and on the National Register of Historic Places. He preserved the Far Niente name — an Italian phrase that romantically translated means ‘without a care.’ Nickel hoped to recapture a bygone era when life was true without care.

Clos Du Val’s story is rich in history

5330 Silverado Trail Napa, CA 94558 – View on map – (707) 261-5212

Clos Du Val’s 1972 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon was one of only several wines selected for the now historic and famous Judgment of Paris tasting of 1976. The Clos du Val entry placed 8th among the judges in the California Cabernet Sauvignon vs. red Bordeaux match-up. Ten years later in 1986, the same wine took first place in a rematch of the original 1976 Judgement of Paris entrants.

Insider tip – The driveway leading up to the winery is named Steven Spurrier Way, which pays homage to the British wine expert who organized the original Judgement of Paris tasting.
