Sonoma County is synonymous with Wine, Food, and Fun, and 2023 will be no different. For that reason, we have put together – The Ultimate Guide to the Best Wine Events in Sonoma County 2023. Kicking things off in March is Wine Road’s Barrel Tasting, followed by Sonoma Epicurean and Pigs and Pinot. Be sure to check out the full guide to the best wine events in Sonoma County.  Below are some of Sonoma County’s best wine events in 2023.

Wine Road Barrel Tasting – March 3rd, 4th & 5th

Wine Road’s annual tradition will include more than 50 wineries from the Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, and Russian River Valley. Select wineries will open their doors to taste current releases and wines still in the barrel. Be sure to ask about futures, many wineries provide great deals on these yet-to-be-finished wines. One of the best winery events in Sonoma County.

Sonoma Epicurean – March 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th 

Hosted this year by singer and songwriter Ciara and her NFL quarterback husband Russell Wilson, this 3-day event will benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research, which since its founding in 1993 has raised and given $290 million in grant money to cancer research. Last year was Sonoma County’s first time hosting the event, and this year’s event is shaping up to be spectacular. Events this year include a live auction and take place over several days at Mayacama, The Montage, The Matheson and various wineries in and around Sonoma County. Distinguished chefs include Jason Pringle, Dustin Valette, Charlie Palmer, Robert Leva, Duskie Estes, Thomas Bellec, and Mark Stark.

Pigs and Pinot – March 17th & 18th 

In its 16th year and hosted by Chef Charlie Palmer at Hotel Healdsburg and Dry Creek Kitchen, this year’s event will celebrate the region’s best Pinot Noirs and how they pair with a range of celebrity chef-made dishes.

Passport To Dry Creek Valley – April 29th & 30th

Join 30+ wineries throughout Dry Creek Valley for a celebration of our land’s viticultural and epicurean bounty and the farmers, vintners, and families that are the heart of our region.

Sonoma County Barrel Auction – May 4th & 5th 

This year’s auction event named “Never Before, Never Again Wines,” is for members of the media and trade by invitation only. Pre-auction events include a barrel lot tasting at Bacchus Landing in Healdsburg, followed by dinners at various wineries throughout Sonoma County. A lunch and live auction will take place the following day at MacMurray Estate Vineyards in the Russian River AVA.  

Healdsburg Wine and Food Experience – May 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st

Back again for 2023, is one of the best wine events in Sonoma County. Co-Founded by the Sonoma County Winegrowers, the Healdsburg Wine & Food Experience will be the ultimate not to be missed Wine County Event. Uplifting the Sonoma County region, this four-day event will celebrate local farmers, growers, winemakers, and chefs, as well as welcome food and wine talent from across the United States and beyond. This year’s event is expected to have 2,000 + attendees, so get your tickets early.

This 4-day event highlights Sonoma County’s agricultural and wine community amongst its global peers, celebrating the farmers and vineyard employees while highlighting the region’s sustainable diversity. Funds from ticket sales benefit a scholarship fund for the Future Farmers of America’s Healdsburg Chapter as well as the Sonoma County Grape Growers Foundation supporting leadership and workforce opportunities for vineyard employees in Sonoma County. This year’s event will have tastings, vineyard tours, sustainability and wine seminars, chef demonstrations, VIP exclusives, a concert at Rodney Strong, magnum party, and grand tasting. Additional events are set to take place in and around Healdsburg, including at The Matheson, The Madrona, and The Montage. Rock star seminar leaders such as Food & Wine’s Ray Isle, Anthony Giglio and Laura Werlin are planning to come back this year. 

Taste of Sonoma – June 4th 

Taste of Sonoma is one of Sonoma County’s most highly anticipated events of the year. With access to more than 60 wine varietals and 19 unique growing areas, Sonoma County’s remarkable winemakers craft world-class wines for every palate. A popular summertime event for locals and tourists alike, the taste of Sonoma is one of Sonoma County’s best Wine Events. This year’s event will be held outside amidst the relaxing environment of the Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate and Gardens. 

Sonoma County Vintners Foundation Wine Auction – September 14th, 15th, and 16th  

A major fundraiser for community nonprofits, particularly around issues of literacy and education, the auction has been held at various venues across Sonoma County and raised more than $1.8 million in 2022. Details to follow as they become available.

Sonoma County Harvest Fair – October 

This event is a celebration of the harvest and celebrates the bounty of Sonoma County. The fair includes both professional and amateur wine competitions, food competitions and a world-champion grape stomp, in addition to a grand tasting, which typically takes place mid-month.
